Don Juan Climbing Rose
Today, I’m going to share with you the secret to growing beautiful roses. Just pick the right rose, one that’s ‘fool proof’. The Don Juan Climbing Rose is my secret weapon.
One of the only fragrant red climbers in the world, Don Juan is a glorious presence in any garden. Dramatic, crimson flowers with velvety, ruffled petals and an intoxicating damask scent are a standout. And the blossoms are set on long stems, just perfect for cutting!
Don Juan Climbing Rose grows 8 to 10 feet tall with massive 5′ blooms in profusion. The dark green foliage is the perfect backdrop for the brilliant flowers. And they ARE brilliant, almost too beautiful to believe. I have 6 plants along the sunny side of my house and they are magnificent against the white siding. People think I have a magic touch with roses, but these are so easy, they practically grow themselves. Extremely hardy and disease resistant, I would recommend Don Juan to any rose lover, but especially to a rose gardener that’s just getting started.
Social Climber from Jackson & Perkins
Here in the South, we are having rainy weather. Actually, we’re having thunderstorms on and off. Last time that happened we had 17 tornados touch down too close for comfort. But after this last year of drought, the rain is very welcome.
Now that Spring is here and the ground is getting saturated, it’s time to think of planting. So what could be more magnificent than a climbing rose? Nuthin’!
This beautiful Social Climber Climbing Rose from Jackson & Perkins is shipped bareroot to be planted next to an arbor or trellis to give you years of beauty. Full-petaled, fragrant flowers are rare in climbing roses! These blossoms are a beautiful deep clear pink, with rapid, repeat bloom cycles and a graceful, well-branched habit. The rose drapes your arbor in spice-scented blooms from spring until fall. The deep pink color shows off in 4″ blooms. My neighbors were so impressed with my roses last year that they think I’m an expert.
