Girl’s Easter Bonnets
For centuries, mothers have been making floral wreaths and Spring bonnets for their daughters. Usually the wreaths were made of whichever flowers were in bloom and were lucky to last through the day. An Easter bonnet has become so much a part of our Easter traditions in the USA that a movie musical was made about it.
You may not have a big Easter parade on your agenda this year, but you can surprise all the females in your family, including the smallest, with a bright Easter bonnet. And you can do it very inexpensively. If you don’t insist on going to the hat department of the most exclusive store in town, you can have an Easter bonnet for your favorite young lady for just $2 to $3 dollars apiece.
How? Well, almost every town of any size has a dollar store now, and they are stocked-up with pretty, lacy little hats imported from China that they sell for just one dollar. In the same stores, they sell artificial flowers and ribbons for a dollar apiece. It’s a simple matter to hot glue some spring flowers to the brim of the hat, along with some ribbon streamers. Or, if you prefer, simply braid a couple of floral stems together and tie with a ribbon for an inexpensive floral Easter wreath. That’s an easy way to color-coordinate to her dress, and oh-so-traditional!
